What is my mail server information?
Type of Incoming Mail Server: POP3
Incoming Mail Server(POP3): pop3.hutchtel.net
Outgoing Mail Server(SMTP): smtp.hutchtel.net
How do I check my online time?
To check your online time, open your web browser. In the address field, enter www.hutchtel.net and click OK. From this page, select NetDirect™ Internet Services. On the following page click Check Your Online Time in the lower left corner. Next, enter your username and password. Your username is the first part of your e-mail address before the @ sign. For example, if John Doe's e-mail address were jdoe@hutchtel.net, his username would be jdoe.
Note: If you have a package other than unlimited, additional hours used will be $2.50 per hour (billed in 6 minute increments).
Am I able to check my e-mail when I'm away from my computer?
You can use the NetDirect Webmail system to check your e-mail when you are away from your computer. You will need access to the Internet and a web browser.
To check your e-mail using our website, open your web browser and enter www.hutchtel.net and click OK. From this page, select the E-mail Login link in the lower section of the web page. When prompted, enter your username and password.
Note: When checking your e-mail with the NetDirect Webmail system, do not enter your entire e-mail address as the username. Instead, enter only your username. Your username is the first part of your e-mail address before the @ sign. For example, if John Doe's e-mail address were jdoe@hutchtel.net, his username would be jdoe.
We do not recommend that you use the NetDirect Webmail as your only way of accessing your e-mail. Rather, we recommend that you set up your e-mail in an e-mail program such as Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger. The NetDirect Webmail only allows you to access e-mail messages that are saved on our system. You cannot use the web-based e-mail to access messages that are stored on your home computer.
What is DSL?
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a service that offers a faster Internet connection than a standard dial-up connection. DSL allows simultaneous transmission of dialed voice calls and high-speed data over the existing phone line. DSL is an “always on” Internet connection for easier access.
How do I sign up for DSL?
Please print out the form below and bring into our office for completion. Our Customer Service Representatives will help you determine which speed will work out best for you, and also show you how combining the DSL Internet service with VisionDirect Cable TV will save you money.
I can't print to my printer. My scanner isn't responding. I can't take pictures with my digital camera. Can you help me?
We can only provide you with support for your Internet service. If you are having problems with other hardware, please consult the manual that came with your peripheral or contact the manufacturer.
Whenever I receive an incoming phone call, I'm disconnected from the Internet. What's wrong?
It's possible that you have the Call Waiting feature on your phone line. If this feature is not disabled, when you receive an incoming phone call, you will be disconnected from the Internet.
To disable call waiting, do the following:
Windows
- Double-click on My Computer. Double-click on Dial-Up Networking. In Windows ME, instead select Start-Settings-Dial-Up Networking. In Windows XP, instead select Start-Connect To-Show All Connections.
- The Dial-Up Networking or Connections window will appear. Right-click on the dialer (ex - NetDirect or Hutchtel) and left-click on Properties.
- In the Phone Number field, enter '*70,' in front of the phone number. If you lived in Hutchinson, the phone number would read '*70,2346062'. Click Apply and OK.
- Your call waiting feature has been disabled. When you are on the Internet and receive a phone call, the line will ring busy instead of disconnecting your call.
Macintosh
If you have MacOS 8 or higher, select the Apple in the upper right corner, click on Control Panels, and then click on Remote Access or PPP.
Enter '*70,' in front of the phone number. Click File-Close. Answer Yes to save the changes. Your call waiting feature has now been disabled.

Can I use AOL with NetDirect Internet service?
Yes, you can use AOL with our Internet service. You would first establish a connection to the Internet through NetDirect (Hutchinson Telephone) and then click on your AOL icon to access AOL. This is commonly called "piggybacking". Please refer to AOL for information about pricing and setup instructions for your AOL client.
I'm moving down south for the winter. Can I still use NetDirect Internet service?
To keep your e-mail address active while you are away, you may choose to downgrade to our lowest Internet package (10 hours for $6.95/month). You can then use the Hutchtel website to check your mail while you are out of the area.
We do not provide an 800 number for dialing long distance into our service. You can establish a dial-up connection by dialing one of our access numbers long distance; however long distance charges will apply if you choose to do this.
