| Dec. 1, 1896 |
Mark W. Clay and Wellington S. Clay establish the Hutchinson Telephone Company. |
| Oct. 20, 1897 |
The first telephone call was placed in Hutchinson, from the railroad depot to the hotel. |
| 1901 |
Hutchinson, MN's directory listed 154 members. |
| 1903 |
Hutchinson's first pay phone was installed at the local barbershop. Local patrons could call anywhere in town for 5 cents a call. |
| 1910-1915 |
Toll lines were built to Minneapolis and other areas. A few years later, HTC began installing lines underground. |
| March 1943 |
The switching equipment was cut to automatic dial service. |
| 1968 |
All toll operator assistance was sent through Shakopee, MN. Local operators were no longer needed. |
| April 1970 |
Automatic identification of the calling party's number was initiated. |
| Nov. 1977 |
The first electronic telephone equipment was installed at various businesses in Hutchinson. |
| Nov. 1990 |
Installed first digital telephone switch, a 5ESS, in our Central Office. |
| 1994 |
Provided enhanced E911 to McLeod County. |
| 1995 |
Introduced Internet and World Wide Web connection with local dial-up to Hutchinson and surrounding areas. |
| July 1997 |
Celebrated 100 years of service to the Hutchinson community. |
| 1999 |
HTC began overbuilding the cities of Litchfield and Hutchinson, MN with fiber optic cable. This cable is capable of delivering voice, video, and data over a single line. |
| 2000 |
Opened offices in Litchfield, MN for Hutchinson Telecommunications Inc. and began delivering voice, video, and data over a single line to all residents within Litchfield city limits. Obtained a cable television franchise for the city of Hutchinson. |
| 2001 |
Began offering long distance services to all of its dial tone customers in Hutchinson and Litchfield and began to provide voice, video, and data services to parts of Hutchinson. |
| 2002 |
Expanded the offering of voice, video, and data over a single line to all customers within the city limits of Hutchinson. |
| 2003 |
Extended the fiber optic network to parts of Lake Jennie, Belle Lake, Lake Hook, Lake Marion, and 234th Circle in Hutchinson and Oakridge Estates in Litchfield to provide voice, video, and data to customers in these areas. |
